Hola Parental Units!!

June will be here before we know it!

Please join us Sunday April 7th at 5pm to learn about our CIY Trip and play a few fun games with your kiddos!

All information on the trip can be found on our Band App!  If you need access, please text Raeshel @ 214-675-7671.  She will send you an invitation to join the Parents Chat Room.  The app has all of our game nights and other events on the calendar as well as permission forms, etc.

Here are the basic details for our summer CIY trip…

What is CIY? (a little history)

CIY stands for Christ in Youth.  CIY is an international youth ministry organization based in Joplin MO.  They have been around since the 1970’s!  They specialize in creating youth conferences built for the unique needs and characteristics of pre-teens (4th-6th graders), middle schoolers, and high schoolers…as well as a variety of global mission trip experiences for high school and college students.

The conference we are attending is called MOVE.  MOVE conferences are designed for high school students and CIY will run 27 different week-long conferences across the United States this summer.  The one we are attending is hosted by Texas State University in San Marcos.

Date?

The date of our conference is June 24-28.  We will leave on Monday morning at 9:00am from North Point and return around 11:00pm on Friday night.  Our return time is an estimate.  Actual time will be determined by what time we actually leave San Marcos, flow of traffic, stops, etc…  We will keep you informed as we travel home.

Cost?

Currently, the total cost for the trip is $490, plus their spending money (fast food, CIY souveniers, offering).  This cost covers food (university cafeteria), lodging, travel, and conference registration.  There may be an additional expense, depending on what we choose to do with our “extended recreation” time on Thursday afternoon.  This will be up for discussion as we get closer to the conference.

What happens during the week?

The heart of a CIY conference is the deepening of spiritual lives of young people through challenging speakers, special interest workshops, music, recreation, small groups, and a ton of fun and relationship building.  All of this takes place in Texas State University campus facilities.

Accommodations?

The kids will sleep in campus dormitories (generally 2-4 per room). The dorms are same-sex only, with rooms and entrance/exits locked 24 hours a day.  University campus security is on duty for the entire duration of the conference.  North Point will provide same-sex adult supervision (minimum 1:5-6 ratio).  North Point adult leaders are background checked.  Meals are provided in the campus dormitory cafeteria.

Travel?

We will be renting a 12 or 15-passenger van to travel in.  We are working to secure donations to help pay for the van rental fee.

Help?

We realize $490 is not cheap!  But we are convinced it will be more than worth it for any kid that joins us.  In order to help, we have North Point members who have provided scholarship money that your kid can work to earn (childcare, home projects, etc…).  We’ll keep them informed.
