What is the Christmas Drive Thru?
A Christmas light experience where we decorate our entire parking lot (and everything else that is standing still) with lights, inflatables and fun Christmas decorations!
Why do we do this?
We had our first Drive Thru in 2020. Our church family needed a purpose to come together and share a little joy and light of the Christmas season with each other and our surrounding community. This fun project was just what our church family needed!
Our Drive Thru has changed a bit over the last few years and we have gotten better and more efficient at hanging all of those lights, and added quite a few more inflatables! We are now on our 5th year!
We even have a fancy mission statement that our Drive Thru team has put together to make sure we are clear about why we continue to do this.
Mission Statement –
To engage our community both in the church walls and out. To build relationships and serve alongside those in our church family while providing a fun exposure to who we are to our surrounding community.
We hope that as you drive through our parking lot and see all of the decorations and smiling faces, you get just a little feel of what it’s like to join with those that call North Point family. By the way, if you’re reading this and you are not yet a part of our church family, we’d love to have you visit on a Sunday morning!
When is the Drive Thru?
The Drive Thru debuts on the first weekend of December although there is a lot of activity up at the building the month of November leading up to it. This weekend also coincides with the Holiday at the Hall that the City of Lewisville puts on, so there are lots of family Christmas experiences in Old Town Lewisville taking place that weekend.
The dates this year are December 5th, 6th & 7th from 6-9pm each evening.
How can I get involved?
We thought you’d never ask…. It takes a lot of volunteer hours to get all of our lights and decorations installed! We have scheduled work days on Saturday, November 16th and Saturday, November 23rd from 9-3 to get the bulk of the decorations put up. Stop by and lend a hand for as little or as long as you are able!! There are jobs of every skill level available. (If you have a staple gun bring it with you!) This is a great way to get to know other members of North Point in a relaxed and fun way!
We will also add in additional evenings as needed as we get closer to December.
Watch the North Point family Facebook page for last minute requests!
The nights of the Drive Thru, we have volunteers stationed throughout the route to be a smiling, waving, friendly face! There is also a need for the occasional emergency fuse replacement, inflatable repair or power outage…. This is a fun way to kick off the holiday season as a family. Bring your kids and join with the carolers, or find your best elf (or other holiday) costumes and station your family along the route.
**Kids are welcome, but MUST stay with their parents for everyone’s safety!!**
